Village Market is far more than a typical grocery store; it’s a cherished market serving the local community for 75 years. What began as a small fruit stand expanded into a 12,000 square-foot establishment in the early 1960s and has continued its growth ever since. Jerry Monte, the General Manager, has dedicated 50 years to Village Market’s success. Monte works alongside owner Al Guastello, who also boasts 55 years in the business, embodying the very spirit of their local longevity.

Village Market takes pride in its offerings, including fresh produce, premium meats, and a comprehensive deli. Monte shares his passion, stating, “I love the people, I love working with the community. I love the business and customers.”

Refreshing a Local Landmark with New Signage

Around 15 years ago, Village Market approached Phillips with a need for new signage. They had such a great experience that when they needed another sign refresh, they called Phillips again, 15 years later.

Monte was seeking something “more creative than a standard box sign,” and Phillips rose to the challenge. Their decision to partner with Phillips Sign & Lighting was significantly influenced by Scott, one of their trusted sales people, who has provided assistance not only with Village Market’s primary signs but also with outdoor lighting and tenant signage for the various shopping centers Guastello manages. Monte recalls the design process, noting that Scott “was very patient and worked with us very closely to get the colors just right so the signs matched the building perfectly.” The final product: a sign that captured their vision.
