A Century of Growth Gets A Brand New Look

This month, we are shining a spotlight on Weeks Food Corp., a family-owned business with a legacy spanning over 100 years. We are excited to share some of their story and highlight their experience working with us at Phillips Sign & Lighting.

The Client

Weeks Food Corp. is a wholesale food distributor that supplies family stores and delis throughout Michigan and northern Ohio with quality meat products. The business has a long history, starting in 1914. It began as a family-owned slaughterhouse before shifting in the 1980s to become the distribution facility it is today.

They recently completed a major expansion, doubling their facility from 25,000 to 50,000 square feet. This new building was the perfect reason for a new sign, and we were thrilled to help them showcase their growth.

When we visited the distribution center to install the new sign, Brendan Weeks spoke to us about their experience with Phillips Sign & Lighting. Weeks Food Corp. has been passed down through his family for generations. Brendan started learning the intricacies of the business from the inside out during high school and has now served as the Manager of Operations for the last three years.

Getting the Sign Just Right

Brendan shared that when Weeks Food decided to get a new sign, they asked around and heard great things about our work at Phillips Sign & Lighting. Brendan said, “Pretty much everybody that we know has gotten their signs done by them [Phillips]. We saw a lot of great examples.”

The Weeks team felt that their old sign wasn’t visible enough from the road, and with their new expansion, they really wanted a sign that would show off their name and make a statement about the business.

Brendan felt that working with the Phillips team, especially our sales representative, Rebecca, was a huge part of their positive experience. He said Rebecca was “amazing” and “a trooper” from day one, noting that everything has “turned out perfect.”

The Wow Factor

Don’t just take it from us! We asked Brendan what advice he would give to other businesses thinking about getting a new sign, and here’s what he had to say:

“If you want customer service, good quality, and really working with down-to-earth people, that [Phillips Sign & Lighting] is who you would want to work with.”
