Taking Flight in Mount Clemens

Airborne Comics & Collectibles has officially landed in Mount Clemens. With the opening came a need for signage, and co-owner John Walus knew exactly who to call.

Where the Airborne Name Comes From

The name Airborne comes directly from Walus’s past. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army, including an assignment to the 82nd Airborne Division, before retiring in 1994. Today, Airborne offers a wide selection of graded comics, collectibles, and action figures. The shop sits at 37 North Main Street in Mount Clemens, MI, where Walus also runs his law office on the second floor of the same building.

Why John Came Back to Phillips Sign & Lighting

When planning for the opening of Airborne Comics, Walus knew who he wanted to call. He’d worked with Phillips previously on signage for his law office, and he decided to return because he was “pleased with the support and customer service” he received during his first project.

“I’m very pleased with what I got for the price, the first time I worked with them,” Walus shared, which prompted him to give Phillips “the first shot” at the new signage project. 

He noted that the team “came up with the preliminary design in a very reasonable time frame.” He specifically praised his contact, Scott, who “made it a seamless process from initial contact to completion of design and installation.”
